💬 Frequently Asked Questions

  • I’ve never taken a pole class, which class should I take?

    • We recommend starting with Intro to Pole. This class is designed specifically for people who are new to pole or just beginning to build confidence and comfort in their bodies. If you’ve never taken a pole class before, haven’t danced in a while, or feel unsure about where to begin, this is your space. If you’re curious and willing to try, that’s all you need. We’ll meet you exactly where you are.

  • Do you have class levels?

    • Instead of rigid levels, our classes are recommended by experience and readiness. This allows you to progress at your own pace while staying safe and supported. If a class has prerequisites, they’ll always be clearly listed in the class description.

For example, Int/Adv Pole Tricks requires a strong, consistent climb, the ability to support your full body weight, and an invert (including controlled descents). Classes like Intro to Pole, Pole Foundations, Low Flow (Dance), and Conditioning are designed to help you build strength, confidence, and fluidity as you grow.

  • Are there any prerequisites for your classes?

    • Pre-requisites are outlined in the class descriptions. You can read each description and decide what feels right for you. If you sign up for a class you aren’t physically able to participate in we’ll give you alternatives for the day and make recommendations for future classes.

  • Is this space s3x worker–friendly?

    • Absolutely. In fact, we are a s3x worker owned studio. We honor all forms of pole experience. This is a studio for expression, creativity, and connection — on your terms.

  • What do I wear to class?

    • Wear what helps you feel confident and allows for grip. For most classes, skin contact helps — think shorts, a crop top or sports bra, and bare feet or socks. For floorwork or creative classes, knee pads or leg warmers are encouraged. Heels are welcome, but never required.

  • How old do I have to be to take class?

    • You must be 18 or older to attend classes at The Movement Atrium.

  • What if I feel nervous or intimidated?

    • That’s normal — and you’re not alone. Our community is warm, non-judgmental, and full of first-timers, creatives, and people exploring movement in their own way. You’re welcome here exactly as you are.

  • What is Open Pole?

    • Open Pole is unstructured studio time where you can practice freely on your own or with friends — no instructor, no formal class. It’s your time to explore movement, rehearse routines, revisit skills, or simply vibe out with your body.

  • Are you hiring?

    • We’re always open to connecting with movement instructors who align with our values and vision. If you're interested in teaching at The Movement Atrium or The Nook, we want to hear from you — especially if you’re committed to:

      • Fostering a body-positive, queer-affirming, and sex worker–positive studio culture

      • Creating space for LGBTQ+ expression and joy

      • Teaching with care, nuance, and respect for all bodies and lived experiences

While we may not always have immediate openings, we’re continuously growing and evolving — and we prioritize building relationships with instructors who share our mission.
